Honor Magic V3, the perfect folding phone

This is the Honor Magic V3, the world's thinnest and lightest folding phone to date. The V3 compared to the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max for example is just over 1 mm thicker when it's folded up and it's only 5 G heavier and as soon as you throw a case on the iPhone, it's probably exactly the same weight.

The Honor Magic V3 is it is ipx8 rated which means it has a very high water resistance but the X does indicate that it isn't resistant to gravel, sand, and fine dust. But there is a deal sweetener here because Honor actually applied the screens with screen protectors before shipping and they very kindly throw the case for the back and the front of the device. And check this out. This is absolutely genius. The camera ring on the back of the case actually flips out to become a kickstand.

When it comes to the cover display, it's surprisingly large for a folding phone. It's a 6.43-inch display and it is an LTPO AMOLED, and it does support 120 HZ with 402 pixels per inch the glass used on the cover display according to GSM Arena is maybe the most epic glass name I've ever heard. It's called King Kong rhinoceros glass.

You will be gaining a 7.92 display inside and once again this is a ltpo 120 Herz AMOLED. It's a 10-bit display with just like the cover screen 402 pixels per inch and get this. It's actually 0.6 in larger than the inner display on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 which was already an epic screen. So, you might be thinking this is a fantastic solution. You've got a perfect-sized screen on the outer display and a massive screen on the inner display, but you probably have one question.

What about the crease? Well, there's some good news here thanks to Honor's very clever super steel hinge. It does a good job of flattening out the display way more so than I've seen on any other folding phone out there today and in fact, it's the least noticeable crease that I've ever seen on a folding or flipping device so far and this is fantastic because nobody wants to see an unsightly crease.

There is a brand new standout feature here on the Honor Magic V3 that Honor actually pioneering for the first time and it's designed to do one thing that to my knowledge no other folding phone has done before it. They call it Aid defocus eye protection. So put simply this very clever software is designed to reduce eye fatigue but at the same time reduce the risk of you becoming shortsighted which apparently is becoming more and more of a problem these days with people holding phones right up close to their faces for hours on in and apparently, this is especially affecting the younger generation. So ultimately if you don't want to develop miss shapen eyes, then I think you're going to appreciate this feature. Also, it's still got PWM dimming which also helps to reduce eye fatigue and eye damage and that's one of the standout features that we see on almost all the Honor Magic phones right now.

Now let's talk about speed and power and let's focus on the power first. The V3 actually uses Honor's third-gen silicon carbon battery combined. It is 5,150 milliamps. This is the next level. You already know the Honor Magic V3 supports 66 W supercharged speeds via the wire, but it also supports 50 W wireless charging speeds. Of course, you need a compatible charger and on top of that, it does have 5 W reverse charging on the back for your earbuds, your Smartwatches, and things like that. Now it's one thing to have a big battery in the phone but if it isn't power efficient, well that could be what you might be thinking.

This phone has Honor's own E1 power management chip in it to ensure that it lasts all day and even works in extreme conditions. And on top of that, it's got Qualcomm's 2024 Flagship 4 nanometer chip, the Snapdragon 8 gen3. They call this one the Titan of AI. It's not only extremely powerful but it's also extremely power efficient.

If you're wondering about ROM and RAM on this, the entry-level is 12 gigs of RAM, 256 gigs of storage, and the top level is 16 gigs of RAM and up to a terabyte of storage.

Now, let's talk about the cameras. You get a 50-megapixel primary with an f1.6 aperture and a large image sensor for a folding phone. It's a 1 over 1.56 in sensor and it's pretty damn impressive. You also get a 50 megap Periscope Tey photo camera with Optical image stabilization and you get a 3.5x optical zoom on this. Still, it does go all the way up to 100x digitally. And then you've got a very respectable Ultra wide here. This one's 40 megap.

So what kind of AI are we actually talking about here on the Magic V3? Well, of course, you can swap out your Google Assistant for Gemini. That's pretty standard stuff now on Android devices, but the V3 does have a few of his own magic tricks up his sleeve.
